Our Coaching Model

The Adler coaching model is the basis for our understanding of:
The goals of coaching
The focus of coaching
And the power of the coaching conversation

Performance, Learning and Fulfillment, represented as the outer triangle of the Adler model, are the domains in which our clients desire to experience change.

What do you really want?
This is the entry point for coaching. Coaching helps make sense of the complex challenges of being a human being embedded in systems. It requires the coach to be particularly skilled at helping individuals identify and commit to goals that have meaning for them, and to align their actions with these goals taking into account their context and their individual uniqueness.

Coaching is fundamentally about facilitating desired change that will lead to desired results – facilitating movement from a current state to a more desirable future state.

Our Philosophy

You are a unique person with unique abilities. You want to express who you are fully in your life as well as your work.

You are also a member of multiple systems and embedded in a web of relationships – as an individual, as a leader or manager in an organization, as a member of a family, as a member of your community.

And you often experience tension between remaining true to your own self and fitting into the various relationships and systems that form your everyday experience.

How do you resolve this paradox?
You resolve it by using your unique self to make a contribution to others.

This way of thinking about being human characterizes Adler International Learning. It is wisdom from several philosophical traditions and woven into Adler’s approach to coaching. Coaching is a powerful way to help individuals resolve that paradoxical tension between self-expression and social embeddedness.

Coaching is a process that helps individuals discover their unique selves and their intentions, and helps them clarify how to bring choices and actions in line with both who they are and what they want.

When appropriately taught and applied, engaging coaching leads to success, fulfillment and positive results both for individuals and for organizations who choose to invest in it. Coaching helps individuals like you – regardless of your role – discern the best way to meet the basic, deep human desire to contribute to the betterment of humanity.

Our Values

“I’ve have over 20 years in management, human resources and executive experience. When I look at coaching, and specifically at the Adler program, I think it’s just a wonderful opportunity to create ways to provide the one-on-one support that people need in today’s corporate environment. Coaching provides the perfect way to help people surface the best of who they are, and clarify for themselves what they want to be. I really think coaching is the way to develop the leaders of tomorrow. It’s been just a wonderful program, and Adler is absolutely the best!”

– Sharon Flanagan, Toronto, Canada

“This course content is excellent. Instruction was exceptional. Classmates were real and wonderful people. It was a “10” and I am usually critical of programs, conferences, etc.”

– Michael Shovlain, Executive Director, Scottsdale Prevention Institute, Scottsdale, Arizona.
