FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Toronto, November 19, 2007: Adria Trowhill, MA, CPCC, MCC and founding member of Adler International Learning Certificate Program Faculty is this year’s recipient of the Canadian Coach of the Year Award. The Canadian Coach of the Year Award raises the awareness among coaching consumers regarding the importance of hiring a trained and competent coaching professional.
On acceptance of the Canadian Coach of the Year Award for 2007, Adria Trowhill has taken up a challenge for herself and all senior coaches. What are we willing to do ensure sustainability of the coaching profession? Who are we being that demonstrates a generous heart? What are senior coaches willing to give to newer coaches, in terms of mentoring and sharing work?
"At Adler, we have a world class coach training program and some of the best faculty,” says Trowhill. “What I have found is that supporting coaches beyond their graduation is important. My challenge to all senior coaches and coaching schools it to find a way to mentor and coach graduates in their lifelong journey to mastery.” To demonstrate her own commitment, Adria has been mentoring Adler students in team coaching for the last two years and in partnership with Adler International Learning, offers an advanced team program for experienced coaches called Team Coaching, a Living Systems Approach that is approved by the ICF for Continuing Coaching Education Units.
Trowhill began her career as a coach in 1994. Hired to coach the general management team at the pharmaceutical company, Searle Canada, she had no idea what coaches did. So began a journey of discovery. Here were a team of highly intelligent people who were attempting to reconnect with the values and vision that had originally drawn them to leadership. Their intention was to empower, but their efforts frequently had the opposite result, disempowering themselves in the process.
She started to work differently. Learning from Margaret Wheatley, Peter Senge and others, Trowhill started researching and experimenting. She became more intellectually challenging and trusting of her own intuition. Her traditional consulting approach evolved to the more effective coaching paradigm.
At Adler, we aspire to a world where everyone has the courage to connect and contribute to the betterment of humanity. We choose to achieve positive change by improving the quality of conversations and relationships. We are guided by a commitment to excellence in everything we do. Adler International Learning is proud to have a trailblazer such as Adria Trowhill as a member of our faculty.
